How fustrating;
You wake up at 4am in the morning full of enthusiasm for your new system. You get all set up, write your urgent email then find you can't send it because you need to get SMTP authorisation, having given your correct email address, which you are told is incorrect. And no, this particular problem is not listed anywhere on BT's website which repeatedly hassles you to set up accounts with Yahoo, which wont accept your password, which you know is correct otherwise you wouldnt be able to connect to the net.
Oh well. I will have to try from Deptford.
any hints appreciated
More on good less fustrating stuff once I've had a proper cigarette...

In case you didn't already know...

I'm Moving:

In slightly less than 1 hour I will be getting a taxi to the coach station and travelling down to London to start university. I'm feeling calmy excited and a little apprehensive; but I'm sure, as cairmen said everything will be fine.

I will be getting in touch with friends in London once I am moved in, but I have already mentioned the above a couple of times on my lj -: so kind of assumed those of you in London would know I was moving down.

Anyway, I need to adjust my watch and have a cup of tea etc, I should be up and running on the internet by the end of this week so you will hear from me then (you are of course welcome to ring or text my mobile). See you soon :) :)

Does anyone have a very sharp scissors?
I've just had my hair trimmed but could do to get rid of some of the split ends.
If you do could you bring them to my leaving thingy...so that I could use them and give them back to you on the same day- it would be very much appreciated.

I started doing a count down of the days before I leave at the end of August. Today is day 9: with just over a week to go, I'm looking forward to it and feeling slightly triumphalistic about managing to save for the accomodation deposit while being on income support (no, I didn't starve, but it has been a bit of a balancing act - mind you I have kept all the companies happy though :)

This is just a quick entry for those of you who are free to come to my leaving thingy on Sunday 11 September.
Yes that's right, I have now realised that this is only a week and a day from now.
Trying to be organised, I did just look at the ugc's site to try and find out what was showing only to find that they only display from today plus five days, which means I've got to wait until monday to find out what films are showing friday. (Grr!).

Oh well. Please look at your ljs on Monday and you will see that I have made an entry about my leaving do as to specifics such as time to meet and film to watch. Apologies for the short notice - but if you feel so inclined you could even complain to the ugc.

Moving Again ! :)
Yes, I'm moving, again. This time it's to London to go to South Bank University. I will be moving during the last two weeks of August (not too sure exactly when yet, exact date to be confirmed). I've made a start in sorting things, and arranging travel ect, and this feels great to actually get things started.

Information/ help needed:
I need quotes on how much it would be to get a taxi from London Victoria to Southbank Uni (I know this may well be alot-but I am liikely to be arriving in the wee small hours of the morning.
Also if people in London are willing to get up very early in the morning and meet me and help me getting my cases to SB Uni via public transport then this would be great and save me needing a taxi. Don't worry if you can't I'm saving money on the journey anyway.

Before I move:
I would like to meet up with friends before I leave. Probably be a Sunday and involve the cinema as cheap. Please let me know which of the Sundays 15 or 22 in August you can make and feel free to suggest another day. More details to be posted near the time.

I have painkillers which work!

Nice doctor suggested it as he took it
for his back called diclofenac. Does same thing as iburoprofen only stronger and I can take more of it! :) :) :)

Silly insanity on the news: 'yes we have a video tape of a suspect being beaten up, but er, er we aren't too sure what it actually happened'
And they have a video tape?!
Well it just goes to show it hasn't improved.

I'm sitting here rather contentedly, (coughing intermittently-ran out of decongesgant)rather suprised..
I did my first timed essay for politics on authority and ideology, and well remembered everything in the set time...(grins)
If my other three go this well i will be very pleased
They are fairly straight forward as they all follow the same structure: topic, link to theorist(s), criticize, give examples.
I'm going to drink tea and read my book:)

just thought this might be of interest:
No fireworks
I just spoke to a taxi driver who told me street party (including fireworks) were cancelled due to terroist threat.Buses had been sporadic due to same.
Mine never showed up, hence the taxi.

Enjoyed purplerabbits new years eve party :), must eat and sleep now.

Grrr...
Well my flat still has a steel door, no eletric and no gas- spent two hours sitting in the freezing cold kitchen waiting for them.
Thankfully scottish power are more efficent than the council.
I will be getting my power on wednesday and if I get offered day for moving in my stuff before the steel door is removed may well consider taking it (they say next tuesday but i'll believe that when i see it.)

On the up side politics revision is going well and I have (after two hours under the duvet with my heater on full blast)finally thawed out.

Thanks for xmas presents to sibelan a cool wooden box which I am using to keep hair toggles in and to purplerabbits a mobile with crabs and dolphins and stuff which lights up which I will put up when I move into my new flat:)

College has been nice enough to give me enough money to pay for electrican to remove and reattach cooker. I may have enough spare to buy a bed which would be cool.
Due to editing some of my charecters are now sounding less like fish which can only be a good thing.

Anyone know electrican?

Due to move between 29th and 12th as steel door needs to be removed.
Anybody possibly free during that time let me know as I need someone to be in new place when stuff is moved -as I need to be here while my stuff is put in the van(Ovibously wont be 31 or 1). In exchange you will recieve tea and food and you will be waiting in a nice warm flat. I am waiting for community service guys to confirm when they can move stuff, but even possible dates would help.

Resorted to taking painkillers early so will be out at Auld house.

Have new flat!
In wester hailes/sighthill so much nearer college (about 10 mins by bus!)
Central heating
double glazing
wooden floors
ground floor-three steps to front door, lots to back door (though not as many as here!)
nice residents in area- have been invited for tea when I move in by couple living in the area who tryed to help me find the place.
Loads of cupboard space
Above actual ground level so less likely to get smashed windows

Disadvantages:
noisy neighbours sharing block (no change from here)
logistics of moving
underlay stuck to living room floor (could be removed with paint scraper)

Given the place im living in, of course I have accepted. Im signing papers friday morning, then it'll be mine!

Feeling relieved as finished last assesment before xmas:)

Research in glasgow was sucess, and survived walking to bus stop from cinema (no shouts, couple of fights (well away from me)) all rather polite and friendly.
In fact so much so, having missed commuter hour last week (as, duh it was saturday)
will be returning tomorrow.

feeling happy about incredibly good today- I revised for the admin assessment next week which meant being incredibly patient to find decent travel internet sites, I cleaned the bath and sorted through more reams of paper.
Also had a breakthrough with a complex partner account yesterday- one of the topics I've picked for my exam so feel I have truly earned my metaphorical chocolate.

Big Conversation?-Massive Lie.
Yes, the goverment has launched yet another expensive excercise in PR in order to cover up all the mistakes it's made.
This one offers a website and phone line on which we can all give our views.
Seeing as they aren't going to be changing any policies due to public opinion this seems like a pointless waste of time. People are to be reassured though as 'we will listen'
This is more dysfuncional than the human rights act, where if Britains law goes against it all judges can do is scrible on a piece of paper that it's 'incompatable'- it takes at least two years before the law is reviewed and most of the time the law just stays the way it is- merely having pieces of paper thrown at it from time to time with 'incompatable' written on them.
What pointless, money wasting activity will the goverment do next?

Having college assesments slowing down- I have an English one and having passed the practice, I can't revise for next week then 1 more accounting one before xmas, I have decided to devote a piece of time to researching my book.
I am looking forward to treating myself to going through to glasgow on saturday to research the very last scence which will to a certain degree set the atmosphere for the beginning of the next book in the series.
I did have vauge plans to see Master and Commander but despite <lj user="cairmen">'s recommendations can't help feeling it doesn't look interesting to me- lacking interest in historics etc. I will be seeing a film there- but what I see will be decided when I get there, me thinks.

Well, just finished resubmitting an administration assesment because I made a silly mistake- I tried to memorise the 26 correct formats of documentation that we were supposed to use- neglecting the advice a college had given me 'we're allowed to use the booklet'-thinking that they couldn't be making it that easy. Consequently I had to resubmit it as many minor mistakes-silly me!
Glad it was over something stupid, as if I had used the booklet i would have passed anyhow.
Note: I expect to pass now as all minor mistakes are corrected :)
And I have all friday off, as it's accounting resits- cool I get to sleep in

Politics foretold:
Anybody who's read Ben Elton's This Other Eden will know that he predicted in this humorous science fiction the breakup of ships carrying toxic chemicals.
Four ships in transit and thanks to the delay of the Environment Agency currently without a place to land.
Bush certainly won't be taking them back, because he's always right.
And now we are told that two of them will be held in temporary storage.
I'm sure this fills you with confidence like it does me.
Note only two, and that we have been told ships are seaworthy for this particular journey- not one which is inevitably extended.
I'm just wondering how long it will take them to break up, rather than when.

Not second hand- felt a bit guilty after buying them intially, but my first new clothes in ages so not guilty any more.
Two pairs New proper jeans (not with the horrendus flares)
a pair of trousers (I have one decent pair left quickly gaining a hole in the knee).
shoes which don't feel like leg irons
and socks.

Mini review:
Saw lots of films on my week off, here are the ones that you should/shouldn't see:
Kill Bill- yes, nice manga-esk touches, good fight scences, does not lack subtley.
Texas chainsaw massacre- unless you jump at the noise of chainsaws this is not worth it.
Cabin Fever- so badly done, that towards the end it's vaugley amusing because it is just that bad. This one is good if you have nothing better to do.
League of Ex gen- some pretty scences, very badly written script, much better vamp than Underworld. Have a laugh at the stupid very predictible lines and remeber that this has been written for an audience who cannot follow a plot.
Mystic River- yes, nice insight into charecters make up.
Intolerable Cruelty- Uck- this will be a waste of your time and you will need a sick bucket and a large knife to kill all the ugly cupids (though there are are hundreds of them, so some other weaponary might serve you better)
Princes Mononoke- curtiousy of purplerabbits yes, very pretty bits, good monsters.
